It Starts With Jesus

If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,‘ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, the Bible says you will be saved.

So, contrary to what you might have felt or heard, you don’t have to be perfect. Salvation isn’t about what you can do, but what Jesus has already done. Through Jesus’ death on the cross, and then coming back from the dead, Jesus took upon Himself all of your wrong and gave you all of His right. If you believe that and commit to following Him, your life will never be the same. It’s as simple as repenting (turning) from your sin, asking forgiveness, declaring you want to follow Jesus and believing He is who He says He is.

Believing in Jesus is the first step on the greatest journey of your life. You haven’t finished the race—you’ve just gotten started. The best is yet to come!

Who Is Jesus?

  • We have a lot of questions we like to ask about God. They’re seemingly endless. “Is God real?” “Is what we know about Him really true?” “What does He have to do with my life?” We have lots of questions.

The Bible answers the most important question of all, … ‘who is Jesus?’ A famous author, C.S Lewis, once wrote of Jesus, “Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”
Jesus commended the Apostle Peter’s confession of Him as, “the Son of the Living God” (Matthew 16:16).

  • You see, Jesus knew our understanding of who He is would change everything. Knowing who Jesus is has the power to transform our lives. Jesus is so unique because two worlds collide in him: Heaven and Earth, the Divine and the human, God’s kingdom and the kingdoms of this earth.

But the Bible leaves no room for doubt. Jesus is the ‘name above all names,’ and his lifespeaking, storm-calming, miracle-working power is second to none. In spite of His deity and eternality, Jesus is also the approachable friend of sinners, the God moved by compassion who knows what we are going through and cares about us. That’s why the Bible also calls Him “Immanuel”, God with us.

This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.

John 3:16 MSG

Jesus Cares!

Here’s the amazing, hard to believe truth about Jesus. He cares about you. He really does! How do we know this?

So often we disqualify ourselves, in our own minds, from God’s love because our history, failures and shortcomings. In one sense, it’s true … sin has separated us from God and we can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. That’s where Jesus makes a way, where we couldn’t find our way.

Asking Jesus into your life is about accepting what we have not earned. God’s love and forgiveness. The Bible says that nothing in all of creation can separate us from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. God’s love and care invites to trust His patient, forgiving and gracious stance towards us. Only He has the power to free us from guilt, shame and condemnation to give us a life of wholeness. All we need do is turn to Him.
