Why Christian Education?

We believe in the value of instilling faith-based values into the lives of our children.

“We want every child to experience an atmosphere of support, encouragement with academic excellence, and a personal interest in their character and whole-person.”

Rev. Dr. Michael Giroux

Hear our Vision

“There’s something powerful about instilling secure faith foundations and a love for learning into a child’s life at a young age.”

Rev. Dr. Michael Giroux

Our Programs

Heights Academy Preschool provides activities and experiences designed to promote the physical, social, emotional, academic, and spiritual well-being and development of young children. Children attending HAP will experience an environment that is rich in literacy development, sensory experiences, play, and hands-on activities.

STEAM, music, movement, and other various multi-disciplinary activities will also be part of a fun-filled, engaging day for students.

Spiritual development is a centerpiece of the HAP experience. Children will learn Bible stories, songs, pray, memorize verses, and begin the journey of discovering the love of Jesus.

Meet the Pastors and Director

Michael & Heather Giroux

Lead Pastors of Citizen Heights Church

Michael and Heather have each been deeply impacted by faith-based educational institutions with a passion for excellence. Both attended Christian day schools, High Schools, College, and Michael received his law degree from a well-known Christian university that championed a Biblical worldview. As products of Christian education, and with four sons of their own, they have a passion to help foster excellence and convenience for the modern, busy family AND happy, healthy, confident children with strong faith foundations.

Together, they started Citizen Heights with a vision to build a church where hope is inspired, limitations are removed, and every person is welcomed to experience God’s possible for their lives. They have a unique calling to champion unity, in an often-divided city. They’ve watched in wonder, as God has gathered the diversity of their international city, into His family, and the Citizen Heights community. Over time, the church has grown to include a DC Campus in northwest corner of the city, a thriving Online Campus with an international following, and most recently, a Virginia Campus in the Dulles Corridor of Northern Virginia.

Michael & Heather have been married for 26 years and have four amazing sons ranging in age from 20-12. They love family time and enjoying all the sights, sounds and tastes Washington, D.C. offers. In their free time you’ll find them riding dirt bikes, or camping and hiking. They’re also seriously big fans of all the Washington sports teams and hope you’ll join them cheering for the home teams!
